Poem of the week: Ready for the Big One (1997) By Bill Direen
Get ready for the big one get wise
We're ready for it now
Don’t pin yr hopes on an early compromise
They’d really have to rig one get wise
Get ready for it now
We might not have one dollar
we might not have one ounce of cash
we might not have one drop of gas
but we’ll be ready for the Big One
Don’t rest your case on a pair of angel eyes
Promises of help have been known to vapourise
We're ready for it now
Don’t give your cards away keep ‘em up against yr chest
Get rid of the bad ones hang on to the best
Get ready for it now
We might not have one dollar
we might not have one ounce of cash
we might not have one drop of gas
but we’ll be ready for the Big One
See the big wigs at the big board banking on their bums
Shit-shovelling in the bucket-shops to save a tidy sum
Think they’re ready for it now
War is on the cards unemployment n the rise
Don’t take a chance on inanimate supplies
We're ready for it now
We might not have one dollar
we might not have one ounce of cash
we might not have one drop of gas
but we’ll be ready for the Big One
Yeah!!!

I was inclined to tell the Jim Wilson story to a fellow juicer recently, This guy is an inspiring character and I see his inpirees all over the place. That he is returning to NZ is a great benefit to the nation.
