Poem of the week: WASTED FLOWERS by James C. Floyd

27 July, 2010

WASTED FLOWERS

GIVE me no flowers or undue praise
because at last I've come to the end of these days, let no tears of sadness streak your face because we're apart for a while; know that now I reside in a better place, and let that knowledge bring forth a smile.

Your tears belong to this world of mortals who've forgotten how to even pray, the ones who pursue material nothings from day to wasteful day.

Weep for the newborn child
who has yet to visit the places I've been and try to find the peace I've found before you too, leave this world of women and men.

Peace,

James C. Floyd
